Discover Scuba Diving is the perfect experience for those who want to get a taste of what it’s like to dive for the first time. If you want to learn to dive, but would rather have prior scuba experience before committing to a course, like the PADI Open Water, the Discover Scuba Diving program is just what you need.
The Discover Scuba Diving experience with Hidden Depths Diving consists of a small course where you will learn all the basics to enjoy a great day of diving, both theory and practical exercises in the water. Once the theoretical part and the exercises are done, you will enjoy 2 incredible dives in one of the best dive sites in Thailand. All this, led by one of our experienced PADI instructors.
In the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience you will learn:
- Basic concepts about diving theory and the different parts of the equipment.
- Find out what it feels like to breathe underwater for the first time.
- You will see how easy it is to move underwater with diving equipment.
- Key skills that you will use in all your dives.
- Swim, explore, float, and enjoy a magical and unique experience.
A different way lo learn scuba diving
We believe in a personalized way of teaching. Diving is our passion, and we put all our love and energies into teaching you to dive in the best possible way. Unhurried, at your own pace, taking as much time as needed to make you become a great diver. To make this possible, our groups are small, generally between 2 and 4 students per instructor, so that you can receive the attention you deserve. Always placing extra emphasis on conservation, respect for the environment, and safety in diving.
All this with a relaxed and professional atmosphere. Come and meet us, we have the best atmosphere to get any scuba diving license in Koh Lanta. You will love it!
Prerequisites
- Minimum age: 10 years.
- Previous qualification: None
- Medical form: You must complete a medical form and be fit for diving.
Discover Scuba Diving structure
The day before the diving experience, you must visit our store. We will give you a booklet where you will find all the necessary theory for the diving day and a medical form that you must fill out at that time. Once the form is done, we will prepare your diving equipment for the next day. Don’t worry, it won’t take us more than 10 minutes to know your measurements and get your diving equipment ready. You should also read the entire theory for the rest of the day.
The next day, your instructor will tell you everything you need to know about the world of diving. Will teach you the techniques that you must learn and practice in the water, and will clear up any doubts that may have arisen regarding the theory. Then you will fill out a short questionnaire, and you will be ready to enjoy two dives at one of the dive sites in Koh Haa, Koh Bida, or Koh Phi Phi.

Included in the Discover Scuba Diving price:
The price of the diving excursion includes 2 dives in two different places, transportation services from your accommodation to and from the dives, breakfast, lunch, and all food and drinks served on the boat, rental of the complete diving equipment, and the services of a professional dive guide.
Not Included in the price:
There is a fee of 600 Baht per person that the Thai government charges for diving within the National Parks. This supplement has to be paid to dive at any of the dive sites on Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi and is not reflected in the prices of the dive day or the courses, as it is a rate totally unrelated to the dive center. Hidden Depths Diving is a mere intermediary that is facilitating and organizing the collection of money and delivering it daily to the authorities of the corresponding marine park.

Medical requirements for scuba diving
It is mandatory to pass a simple medical questionnaire before taking any PADI diving course. It is a simple questionnaire on different pathologies in which it is supposed that you answer “no” to all the questions to be eligible and start the diving course.
In case you answer “yes” to any of the questions, it does not mean at all that you are not suitable to dive, it simply means that you need to consult a qualified doctor and that he/she certifies in writing that you are suitable for diving.
You can bring this certificate with you, or we can do it in Koh Lanta for an approximate price of 600 Baht. If you want, we can help you manage the reservation with the doctor, and it will not take you more than 10 minutes to have your certificate.

Once you finish the experience
Once the experience is over, and once we are back at the dive center, we will give you a document that certifies that you have completed a Discover Scuba Diving experience. This experience will be officially registered in the PADI system, where you will add other PADI diving courses or experiences that you take in the future.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is by far the most popular, and you’ll be certified as a full-fledged diver in just 3 days. If you are a little short on time, you can take the PADI Scuba Diver course in just 2 days.
