PADI Instructor IDC Course

If you are reading this, you are probably already a Divemaster and thinking of taking the definitive leap in your career as a professional diver and becoming a PADI Open Water Instructor.

Being a PADI dive instructor is a privilege and a responsibility. Once you are an instructor, you can work in paradisiacal places that others can only dream of. You will live underwater adventures and will have made your passion your profession. You will also become a role model, and now you will be the one who teaches other people to dive and the wonders that lie underwater. There is nothing more rewarding than working to make people happy!

Once the most important decision of all has been made, another decision almost as important comes in: Where to do the IDC course? Well, a good Course Director and a good IDC program are essential for you to successfully pass the PADI IE exams and fulfill your dream of becoming a PADI instructor. Our IDC program is just what you need. Hidden Depths Diving is a small, family-friendly dive center that pampers detail, offers a close treatment, and personalized and quality teaching. Our Course Director, Rod Bateman, is one of Koh Lanta’s best-trained professionals. With thousands of certifications on his shoulders and an unsurpassed success rate. His long career and deep knowledge of the PADI IDC program are a guarantee of success. Also, we like to teach our IDC program in small groups, generally of no more than 4 people per course, to guarantee that you will receive quality training and totally personalized according to your needs.

The Instructor Development Course, better known as IDC, actually encompasses two courses, which are taught jointly before attending the Instructors Exam (IE); The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course. Once both courses are completed, you will be able to participate in a PADI Instructors Exam (IE).

If you are already a professional Instructor level from another diving organization other than PADI, you can enroll directly in the second part of the course (OWSI). The Assistant Instructor course (AI) is already validated.

The IDC program will be carried out during the 15 days before the date of the Instructor Exams (IE). With our study program, in 15 days you will be fully prepared to take the exams, studying constantly, but with plenty of time to acquire all the necessary knowledge without stress. After the 15 days of the IDC program, the Instructor exams will take place in 2 additional days.

We also offer, completely free of charge, a 2-day warming up program that you can complete before the IDC program start date. Where you can refresh all the diving knowledge of the previous courses, so you can start the IDC program at your 100%.

Medical requirements for scuba diving

It is mandatory to pass a simple medical questionnaire before taking any PADI diving course. It is a simple questionnaire on different pathologies in which it is supposed that you answer “no” to all the questions to be eligible and start the diving course.

In case you answer “yes” to any of the questions, it does not mean at all that you are not suitable to dive, it simply means that you need to consult a qualified doctor and that he/she certifies in writing that you are suitable for diving.

You can bring this certificate with you, or we can do it in Koh Lanta for an approximate price of 600 Baht. If you want, we can help you manage the reservation with the doctor, and it will not take you more than 10 minutes to have your certificate.

If you want to go ahead, or want to take a look at the medical form, here are the links to the PADI medical form in the main languages:  English SpanishFrenchGermanItalianChinese (simplified).
